Community Service

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Eta Beta Zeta Chapter has a rich history of community involvement. Our members consistently contribute funds and many hours of volunteer service to national causes and local outreach programs and services. Below are a few of our annual Z-HOPE and community service projects.

Holiday Meals and Christmas Presents

Our chapter’s way of celebrating the holidays is by delivering and/or serving meals for organizations such as Families Moving Forward and The Durham Rescue Mission Homeless Shelter for Women & Mothers with Children and providing Christmas gifts for children of Angel Tree.

March of Dimes March for Babies

March for Babies, the annual nation wide walk sponsored by the March of Dimes, raises money to help fund research and education supporting healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. Every year, chapter members participate in the Triangle March for Babies by raising money and having a fun time walking with Zetas and Sigmas from the Triangle area.

Veterans Toiletry Drive

This is part of the Z-HOPE military initiative. In recent years, chapter members have participated in the initiative by having a toiletry and drives for homeless and hospitalized veterans. Donations have benefited the Durham VA Medical Center.

Z-Pack It Up

The chapter’s annual book bag and school supply drive benefiting Durham students in need.

Zeta Prematurity Awareness Program

A national sorority program that shares, with houses of worship, information about prematurity and the importance of seeking prenatal care in an effort to decrease infant mortality and the number of low birth weight babies. Chapter Sorors have presented the information verbally to various church congregations and groups and in print in church bulletins.
